Pitch Black is the fifth expansion of the Mega Evolution era, a small focused set built almost entirely around one Pokémon. Mega Darkrai ex is the reason this set exists. The name points straight at it, and almost everything worth money sits in the Darkrai tier or just below it.
The English launch saw the kind of fast correction the market has been learning to expect. Cards priced as presale lottery tickets corrected within the first weekend. How we determine verdicts
Prices and verdicts update automatically every time this page loads. Here's what drives each verdict:
First 4 weeks
We compare each card's current price against its English presale price. A card down more than 30% from presale gets a good entry signal. A card down 15-30% is flagged as correction still ongoing. A card still within 15% of presale is flagged as no urgency. If yesterday's price is available, a 24-hour drop of 3%+ overrides the presale comparison and flags it as a falling window. Trend arrows (▲▼) next to each price show the 24-hour movement.
After 4 weeks
Presale prices become stale. We switch to 30-day trend data stored weekly in our database from secondary market prices. A card down 15% or more over 30 days signals a buying window. A card within 5% of its lowest recorded price since we started tracking is flagged as a historically good entry. A card that has been flat for a month gets a stable rating.

Pitch Black's value structure is clearer than most sets. Two Mega Darkrai ex cards dominate the top, with the art-driven SIR beating the rarer gold Mega Hyper Rare. That's consistent with the pattern across the entire Mega Evolution era. Below that sits a surprise Morpeko ex that nobody expected to be the second most valuable card, two artist-driven trainer cards punching above their tier, and a pair of Illustration Rares that collectors genuinely want in their binders.
The presale premium is gone. The launch-week chaos is settled. Cards that were speculative at $170 are now fairly priced at $65. If these are on your list, the buying window the market usually takes weeks to reach arrived in the first weekend.
