Fusion Strike is the eighth main Sword & Shield expansion, released November 12, 2021, and at 284 cards the largest set of the era. It introduced Fusion Strike Pokemon, a third battle style next to Single Strike and Rapid Strike, led by Mew VMAX and Genesect V. The set has 264 numbered cards and 20 secret rares. Gengar VMAX alternate art (271/264) is the chase card by a wide margin, at $1,027.28 in market prices on Oct 29, 2026, about three times the Espeon VMAX alternate art (270/264). It came after Evolving Skies and Celebrations.
A complete Fusion Strike master set contains 501 cards: the 284 cards in the set plus 217 reverse holos. Only commons, uncommons, rares and holo rares come in reverse holo. See the full checklist and cost to finish.

284, the most of any Sword & Shield set. The set is numbered to 264, and 20 secret rares are numbered 265 to 284. A complete master set is 501 cards, because every common, uncommon, rare and holo rare also comes in reverse holo (217 more cards).
Gengar VMAX alternate art (271/264), at $1,027.28 in market prices on Oct 29, 2026, about three times the next card. Espeon VMAX alternate art (270/264) is second at $338.25 and Mew VMAX alternate art (269/264) third at $229.17. See the full Fusion Strike chase card ranking for today's prices.
Fusion Strike is a battle style, like Single Strike and Rapid Strike from Battle Styles, marked with a pink banner on the card. Its cards work together and lean Psychic, and Mew VMAX is the face of the style. This set introduced it, along with Genesect V and the Fusion Strike Energy.
There is no large published study for Fusion Strike. Community counts put any secret rare at roughly 1 in 120 packs, which works out to about one every three booster boxes, but treat that as a rough guide, not a measured rate. The odds of a specific card like the Gengar VMAX alt art are far lower, and nobody has a reliable figure for them.
November 12, 2021, as the eighth main expansion of the Sword & Shield series. It came after Evolving Skies and Celebrations, and before Brilliant Stars.
