Sword & Shield
Where Pokemon V and VMAX began: Gigantamax Snorlax and Lapras, Zacian V and Zamazenta V, and Marnie, with every card priced daily.
Sword & Shield is the first expansion of the Sword & Shield series, released February 7, 2020, and the first English expansion with Galar Pokemon, Pokemon V and VMAX. VMAX cards show a Dynamax or Gigantamax form and give up three Prize cards, and Snorlax VMAX came with 340 HP, the most of any tournament-legal Pokemon at the time. The set has 202 numbered cards and 14 secret rares, 216 in all. The rainbow Snorlax VMAX (206/202) is the chase card, at $107.97 in market prices on Oct 29, 2026, more than twice the regular Snorlax VMAX (142/202). It came after Cosmic Eclipse and before Rebel Clash.
A complete Sword & Shield master set contains 381 cards: the 216 cards in the set plus 165 reverse holos. Only commons, uncommons, rares and holo rares come in reverse holo. See the full checklist and cost to finish.

216. The set is numbered to 202, and 14 secret rares are numbered 203 to 216: 8 rainbow rares (Lapras, Morpeko, Stonjourner and Snorlax VMAX, Bede, Marnie, Professor's Research and Team Yell Grunt) and 6 gold cards (Zacian V, Zamazenta V, Air Balloon, Metal Saucer, Ordinary Rod and Quick Ball). A complete master set is 381 cards: all 216 plus 165 reverse holos, one for every common, uncommon, rare and holo rare. The 9 Basic Energy cards released with the set have no card number and are not counted; they are listed as an optional extra at the bottom of the master set checklist, about $1.89 for all 9 on Oct 29, 2026.
The rainbow Snorlax VMAX (206/202), at $107.97 in market prices on Oct 29, 2026. The regular Snorlax VMAX (142/202) is second at $45.60, then the Marnie full art (200/202) at $35.11, the Snorlax V full art (197/202) at $33.08 and the rainbow Morpeko VMAX (204/202) at $26.97, so Snorlax holds three of the top four spots. A reverse holo Gengar (085/202) also makes the top 15 at $9.69. See the full Sword & Shield chase card ranking for today's prices.
Pokemon V and VMAX arrived. A Pokemon V gives up two Prize cards when Knocked Out and a VMAX gives up three, and VMAX cards show the Dynamax or Gigantamax form, like Gigantamax Snorlax and Lapras. The rules changed too: the player who goes first can no longer play a Supporter on their first turn. The Fairy type was retired, so Fairy Pokemon are printed as Psychic, and Poison Pokemon moved from Psychic to Darkness. Rebel Clash and the sets after it built on all of this.
No one has published a large pack-opening study for Sword & Shield, so any exact odds you see online are community estimates. The 14 rainbow and gold secret rares are the hardest cards to pull, and nobody has a reliable figure for one card like the rainbow Snorlax VMAX. At $12.20 a pack on Oct 29, 2026, that card cost about as much as 9 loose packs, so buying the single is usually the cheaper way to get it.
$688.99 in market prices on Oct 29, 2026, for a sealed box of 36 packs. The Elite Trainer Box comes in two versions, Zacian at $177.72 and Zamazenta at $173.53, a loose pack was $12.20 and the Build & Battle Box $108.97. With the top card around $108, a sealed box sells for far more than the best card you could pull from it. The Sword & Shield sealed product page has today's prices.
